SABRE is an open protocol for connecting to various crowd-sourced driver alert networks. The protocol supports various alerts types including police alerts, hazards alerts of various types, and accidents reports.
The protocol is designed for Android mobile devices; it uses many Android-specific features, thus not compatible with any other operating systems.
From the end user perspective, in order to make their favourite driving companion app work with a SABRE-compatible data asource, they should only install an additional application (a plugin) connecting to that source. This assumes that both the host app, and the data source app are SABRE-compatible.
